Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) has partnered with Haldiram, India's leading multinational food brand, to build one of the largest saffron processing facilities in the GCC, according to an agreement signed on the sidelines of Gulfood 2025.

Beginning operations in March 2025, the state-of-the-art facility will be managed by Kesar Expert & Packers, a 22-year-experienced expert in high-quality saffron processing in India. In order to guarantee the quality and purity of its saffron, it will also receive the internationally renowned European BRCGS certification.

Using the UAE-India CEPA and the top-notch infrastructure and connectivity at Jebel Ali Port and Jafza, the hub will process 30 metric tons of saffron at first, with plans to grow to 100 tons over the following five years.

Jafza and Haldiram also talked about potential future partnerships, like boosting Haldiram's footprint in Dubai and making additional investments in facilities for food distribution and processing.

With over 770 F&B businesses currently operating in Jafza, this agreement enhances Dubai's standing as a major international trade hub.

More than 10,890 multinational corporations call Jafza, the top free trade zone in the world, home. Jafza supports more than 135,000 jobs in Dubai by bringing substantial FDI.

With its strategic location at the intersection of a region that offers over 3.5 billion people access to markets, Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone forms an integrated multi-modal hub that offers land, sea, and air connectivity along with a wealth of logistics facilities.
